Packet Terminal
Create a Packet Terminal by using the Files/New Menu or the "New" toolbar button. Before data can be transferred, the Terminal window must be connected to one of the serial ports. Select the serial port you wish to connect to with the drop-down list at the top left of the window, then click the "Connect" button to connect to the port. If it is not possible, e.g. if the port is used by another application or another radio and can not be shared, an error will be given.
Select the Settings group from the dropdown list at the top right of the window. The default will have already been selected automatically when you select the COM port.
Place the cursor in the bottom part of the window and type a line of text with a return, e.g.
MY<ENTER>
Data will be sent to the serial port, and if the TNC of a TM-D700 or TH-D7 is enabled, it will respond with:
MYCALL call
"Control" characters are sent by holding down the "Ctrl" key and pressing the desired character, as would normally be done. In order for the control characters to be entered this way, all shortcuts( e.g. CTRL+C for Copy ) are disabled when entering data in the packet window.
To send the "0" character, click the "NULL" button at the bottom. This is not generally used, but might be useful for special testing.
The Clear Screen button will erase all data from both screens.
The terminal window can be disconnected by clicking "Disconnect". It will automatically disconnect when you close the window.
To edit the Terminal Settings groups, first select the Com port in the dropdown list at the left. Then Click the "Edit Settings" button. The Settings Editor will open.
