Copying Channels

Copy/Paste/Sort Channels
Channels can be copied to different areas of the memory list and to other profiles, even if the radio is a different type.  Channels can be copied from Import profiles the same as from regular lists.  You can use the selections in the edit menu or right click on the list to bring up a similar menu, or use the shortcuts mentioned below.

Modes
Both Cut and Paste have two different modes of operation.
"Cut Mode" can be "Clear"(F5) or "Collapse"(<CTRL>F5).
"Paste Mode" can be "Overwrite"(F6) or "Insert"(<CTRL>F6)
The operation of each mode is outlined under "Cut" and "Paste", below. Select modes using the "Edit" menu, by right clicking on the list, or using the respective shortcuts.

Selecting Channels
Select a channel or range of channels to copy. Simply click on a single channel to mark it.  To select ranges do one of the following:
  • Click on the first channel in the range. Press and hold a "Shift" key.  Click on the last channel.
  • Select the first channel. Press and hold a "Shift" key. Use the keyboard up/down keys, move the selection to the last channel.
  • For a mouse wheel:  Hold down a Shift key.  Turn the wheel to expand the selection until it covers what you want.  Note that the mouse wheel may not work under Windows 95 or early versions of Windows NT

You may mark a range of channels that are not adjacent to each other.  Simply press and hold the CTRL key, then click on each channel you want to select.  While the CTRL is depressed, clicking on a selected channel  will deselect it.

You can scroll the list by using the CTRL Up and Down arrows or dragging on the mouse scroll bar.

    Copy Channels
Select the channels or range of channels to be copied.  Select "Copy"(<CTRL>C).  The channels are copied via the system clipboard.

    Cut
Mark the channels to be cut.  Select "Cut"(<CTRL>X).  The channels will be copied to the clipboard.

If  "Cut Mode" is "Clear",  those channels will be cleared.  No other channels will be affected.

If  "Cut Mode" is "Collapse", the channels  numerically greater will be moved down to fill in the removed channels. Blank channels will be inserted at the top of the list in the vacated channels

    Paste
Select the position to insert the channels from the clipboard.  Select "Paste"(<CTRL>V).

If the "Channel Mode" is "Overwrite", The channels will be inserted at the insertion point, overwriting existing channels. Channels outside the inserted range will not be affected.

If the "Paste Mode" is "Insert", all channels at the insertion point will be moved upwards and the clipboard channels will be inserted.  Caution: a number of channels at the top of the list equal to the number of channels inserted will be lost.

    Sort
Select the range of channels to be sorted.  Select  "Sort/by Name" or "Sort/by Frequency" to sort by name or frequency, respectively.

Move or "Bump" Up or Down
You can move one continuous block of channels up or down in the list.   By holding the ALT key, and depressing either the Up or Down arrow keys, the selected channels will be "bumped" up or down respectively one position in the list. The channel that is moved into moves to the other end of the selected ones, so nothing is lost.  By repeated Up and Down arrow presses, you can move the selection to any part of the list you desire.

    Drag and Drop
You may copy or move channels by the traditional "Drag and Drop" method.
  • Select a channel or range of channels as above.
  • Drag to the place you wish to drop, either the same list, or a different one.   As you drag, the channel number of your potential drop will be highlighted.  If you are dragging a range, this will be where the first channel of the range will drop.  As you move the drag cursor toward the top or bottom of the list, it will scroll, to allow you to drop in an area that is off the currently displayed part of the list.
  • Release the mouse button to drop the channels.

By default, link700 will move channels when dropping onto the same list, but will copy when dropping onto a different list.  You can override this by depressing the <CTRL> key, if you wish to copy to the same or move to another list.  The mouse cursor will display a "+" when it is copying, and none if it is moving.

    Drag Mode
You have the option of choosing what happens when you drop a channel or range of channels on a list.  Select "Edit/Drag Mode/Overwrite" if you want channels to be written over the existing channels ( original contents will be lost ).   Choose "Edit/Drag Mode/Insert" to cause all the channels at and above the channel on which is dropped to move upwards.  Channels at the top of the list will be lost, the number equal to the channels dropped.
