TM-D700 Radio Editor
Display Functions
Power On Message: Enter the text to appear when the radio is turned on. Default is Hello!!, but a more practical message is your callsign
Contrast can be set by clicking on the up/down arrows
Reverse Mode: Select Positive for dark characters on a white background or Negative for light characters on a dark background.
Auto Dimmer Change: Set this to ON to cause the display to brighten for 5 seconds when you press a front panel key or microphone button. OFF disables this function.
Key Function: Select Mode 1, 2 or 3 to define the functions that show on the "soft" buttons along the bottom of the display of the TM-D700. The top row of buttons to the right shows the functions that are currently default functions, i.e. what you get when you press the button by itself. To access functions on the second row of functions, press the [F] key. To access the third row of functions, press and hold the [F] key for one second. link700 will display the correct functions for the Mode you select, so there is no confusion about Modes 1, 2, or 3.
Audio
Beep Volume: Adjust the beep volume by changing the setting from 1 to 7. You can click on the arrows to step the value up and down.
Key Beep: Turn the Key Beep On or OFF
Speaker Configuration: Select Mode 1 or Mode 2 for Speaker configuration. Audio from Band A and Band B are routed to internal and or external speakers ( SP1 and SP2 ) as shown on the table next to the Mode selector.
Voice Synthesizer: Select Off, English, Japanese, or APRS only for the VS-3 voice synthesizer. This will have no effect if the VS-3 is not installed.
Voice Volume: Select volume, 1 to 7 of the VS-3 voice synthesizer. This will have no effect if the VS-3 is not installed.
TX/RX
S-Meter Squelch A, S-Meter Squelch B: Use these check boxes to turn on the S Meter Squelch functions for band A or B, respectively.
Squelch Hang Time: Use the pull-down list to adjust Squelch Hang Time for the S-Meter Squelch functions above.
Advanced Intercept Point: Turn on Advanced Intercept Point to reduce intermod distortion in the VHF band. Note that this reduces receive sensitivity.
Narrow TX/RX Deviation (TM-D700E only): Check this for Narrow deviation, uncheck for Wide deviation
Memory
Auto PM Channel Store: Uncheck this to turn Off Auto PM memory store.
Channel Display: Checking this box causes the TM-D700 to display only channel numbers and names, i.e. not frequencies. Default is unchecked, or OFF.
DTMF
DTMF TX Speed: Set TX speed for DTMF numbers to FAST or SLOW
DTMF Pause: Sets pause time for DTMF channels
TNC
Data Band: Select Transmit and Receive bands for TNC
DCD Sense: Select Which bands will prevent the TNC from transmitting
Time Zone: Enter your time zone with the pull-down list
Repeater
Auto Repeater Offset: Click this to automatically set the proper repeater offset frequency
Call Button: Determines whether the Call Button functions as Call Button or as 1750 Tone
TX Hold: Causes the transmitter to remain active for 2 seconds after a 1750 tone is sent.
Repeater Hold: When using the TM-D700 as a repeater, and this is checked, the transmitter remains active for 500 ms after the input signal drops.
MIC
Microphone Button Functions: Use the four pull-sown lists to choose the functions for the PF, MR, VFO, and CALL microphone buttons.
Microphone Control: Enables DTMF button control of functions. See page 73 of the operator's manual.
DTMF Monitor: Checking this allows you to hear DTMF tones through the speaker as they are pressed
AUX
Scan Resume: Choose the method of resuming after a stop during scan. The modes are:
Time: Pause for about five seconds before resuming scan.
Carrier: Pause while the signal is present and until 2 seconds after the signal drops.
Seek: Do not resume scanning upon finding an active channel.
Number of Visual Channels: Select the number of channels presented during a visual scan.
Auto Power Off: When this is checked the TM-D700 will turn itself off after 3 hours of no controls being turned/pushed.
Time Out Timer: Set the maximum transmission length, 3, 5, or 10 minutes.
COM Port Speed: Change the COM Port speed. The new speed setting does not take effect until the radio is turned off and then on again. Remember to change the link700 Com Port speed to match the new speed.
Data Port Speed: This determines the data baud rate to the external TNC, if used.
Power Band A: Power setting for Band A.
Power Band B: Power setting for Band B.
Remote Control
Secret Code: enter a three digit number to match the code you entered in your handheld.
Acknowledgment: check this to have an acknowledgment sent to the handheld after a command is received.
