Import Repeater Files

link700 can import files from ARRL's "Travel Plus for Repeaters".  The procedure is as follows:

Importing
Create a repeater list using Travel Plus for Repeaters, and export it as a ".tpe" file. More specifically:
from within a Repeater list window, click File/Export Repeater Data/Radio Programming Format...  -or-  press Ctrl+R.  The Export Repeater Data Dialog will come up, with all the options grayed out. Click "OK", then specify a file name to save the list. Save with a ".tpe" extension, which is the default.

From within link700, click Files/Import and select the file that you saved above.  If the file is read successfully, a window will be created with all the repeater data of the .tpe file.

Mark the repeaters you want to copy in the same way you would when copying channels. (See below) Using the Edit menu, or by right clicking on the window, select the "Copy Channels" option.

Paste the channels into an open profile, as if you had copied from one.

You can select which column gets inserted into the name field of the profile.  On the Preferences window, select either "Location", "Call", or "Sponsor".

Currently, all repeaters imported from .TPE files will import a mode of FM.  Travel Plus does not have a mode column, so, in order to provide an FM setting for the TS-2000, one is included by default.

Editing Repeater Lists

Editing Modes
The Import window may be in either "Marking" or "Editing" mode.  Marking mode allows you to sort, mark,  and copy channels to the clipboard.  Editing allows you to edit entries in the Location, Call and Sponsor  Columns.  Choose "Marking" or "Editing"  by clicking on the "Edit" menu, or right click on the table, and click "Marking" or "Editing".

Marking Channels ( Marking mode )
Mark a channel or range of channels to copy. Simply click on a single channel to mark it.  To mark ranges do one of the following:
  • Click on the first channel in the range. Press and hold a "Shift" key.  Click on the last channel.
  • Select the first channel. Press and hold a "Shift" key. Use the keyboard up/down keys, move the selection to the last channel.
  • For a mouse wheel:  Hold down a Shift key.  Turn the wheel to expand the selection until it covers what you want.  Note that the mouse wheel may not work under Windows 95 or early versions of Windows NT

You may mark a range of channels that are not adjacent to each other.  Simply press and hold the CTRL key, then click on each channel you want to select.  While the CTRL is depressed, clicking on a selected channel  will deselect it.

Click on Edit/Mark All or right click/Mark All  to mark all the channels in the Import window.

Move or "Bump" Up or Down
You can move one continuos block of channels up or down in the list.   By holding the ALT key, and depressing either the Up or Down arrow keys, the selected channels will be "bumped" up or down respectively one position in the list. The channel that is moved into moves to the other end of the selected ones, so nothing is lost.  By repeated Up and Down arrow presses, you can move the selection to any part of the list you desire.

    Sorting ( Marking mode )
You may sort Import files by most columns.  To Sort, first mark the block you want sorted as above.  Click Edit/Sort/by <col>  where <col> is the header name of the column you want to sort by.

    Editing Channels( Editing mode )
Choose the "Editing " mode,  Then select entries in the Location, Call, or Sponsor Columns you may wish to edit.  Since longer names get truncated when you paste them into a profile, this is a convenient way of modifying names to shorter ones before you paste them.

    Saving an Import File
If you would like to save a file you have edited, click File/Save As...  link700 stores the file in Travel Plus V 4 format.

    Drag and Drop
You may use drag and drop to copy channels from an Import window to a radio profile, but the Import window does not support drops, so you cannot drop a channel on it.
