Quick Message
Use the Quick Message form to enter APRS messages. Place the radio in APRS mode before attempting to send messages.
- Enter the station callsign. For bulletins, enter "BLN" or "BLNx" where x is a digit or character( See below ).
- Enter the text of the message. If your message is longer than the maximum message length ( 45 characters for TH-D7 and 64 characters for TM-D700 ) the unsent portion of the message will be retained in the edit window.
- Select TH-D7 or TM-D700. If neither is selected, the message won't be sent.
- Click the "Send" button.
The message will be sent to the desired radio.
Multiple Part Messages
You can send a message that spans several transmissions. After you click the "Send" button, the sent portion of the message will be removed from the message text. Successive "Send" operations will send the successive parts of the message. Allow time for each message to be sent before sending the next part, since the radios seem to have trouble queuing more than one or two messages.
The TH-D7 will transmit the message immediately upon sending it, but the TM-D700 will not unless it's transmit method is AUTO. You can upload a series of messages to the TM-D700 and then use the MSG/TRANSMIT menu item in the radio to send them.
If you are sending a multiple part bulletin, start with a "Callsign" of BLN0 or BLNA. Successive clicks on the Send button will increment the BLN0 to BLN1 or BLNA to BLNB, and so on.
