Quick Start
Everyone likes to get up and running as soon as possible, so here is how to do it. In order for link700 to function properly, the following settings have to first be made:
Select Files/Preferences. The Preferences window should pop up. Click on the "Serial Ports" tab.
Do this for each radio type you intend to use:
Click on the tab corresponding to the COM port for the radio you are going to use. Select the COM port you will use. You may set more than one radio to a given port, but then you will only be able to communicate with one type of radio at a time, and of course, you will have to change connections to upload/download each radio type.
For the TM-D700, TS-480, and TS-2000, select the baud rate to match your radio baud rate.
If you so desire, you may click the "Menu" tab and uncheck those model numbers that you don't want to show up in the "New" menu (See "Preferences"), e.g. you can uncheck the "E" versions if you have only "A" version radios, and so on.
At this point you can test the communications by clicking on Files/New/Terminal. When the terminal pops up, select the radio type in the pull-down list at the top right of the tool bar, then click on the "Connect" button. Turn the radio on, and be sure it is NOT in packet mode( for TH-D7, TM-D700 ) and that the TNC is not on for the TS-2000. Place the cursor in the bottom window, and:
For the TS-480 or TS-2000, choose the "Communications" settings and "type "ID;" ( don't forget the semicolon ) and <Enter>. The TS-2000 will identify with "ID019;", the TS-480 with "ID020;".
For all other types, type "ID" and <Enter>You should see the radio identify with it's model number.
Click "Disconnect" and then connect with the other serial ports you are going to use, and do the "ID" test again.
If you get this far, communications with the radios have been established, so you can go ahead with testing the rest of the program.
