Terminal Settings Editor

Terminal windows can be configured for different data communications situations, for instance either entering remote commands to the radio, or packet use, for those radios with TNC's.  Each Com port type has it's own set of settings groups, and you can add your own to any port.  To activate the settings for a particular group, choose the description of that group from the dropdown list at the right top of the Terminal window.

Each Com port starts out with at least "Basic Settings".  "Basic Settings" and any other original settings groups cannot be edited or deleted, except that any may be made the default group for a COM port. You can create your own settings group by using the editor, accessed from the terminal window itself.

Creating a settings group
The first step is to choose the Com port you want to edit, from the drop down list at the left of the Terminal screen, as if you were going to open it.

Click the "Add" button.   A popup window will  appear.  Enter a unique description.

Change any of the settings you want to coincide with how you want the terminal to function.

When everything is in the proper state, click "OK" and you will be returned to the Terminal window.  The group will now show up in the Terminal Settings dropdown list.  If you instead click "Cancel", the new settings group will not be created.

Editing Settings
If you wish to edit settings ( of groups you have created ), select the group in the drop-down list, and click "Edit Settings".  The edit window will pop up and you will be able to edit the settings.   Click "OK" to save the new settings, or "Cancel" to discard them.

Deleting a group
With the Terminal Settings group in the drop-down list selected,  click "Delete".
