Color Editor

Background and text colors may be set using the Color Editor.   Five "Color Schemes" or "Palettes" are already defined, Default and High Contrast 1 through High Contrast 4.  Default will use the same colors as Windows uses.   The High Contrast schemes are intended to maximize visibility. These five schemes cannot be deleted, nor can edits be made to them and saved.   You can, however, go into the editor and see the effects of changing them might be, but you will be unable to save the changes.

Changing Colors
To change the colors used in link700, click on Preferences/Colors.   The drop-down list contains the names of the current color schemes.   Select the scheme to which you wish to change, and click the "Apply" button.  The currently active scheme will be displayed at the top of the window.

Creating New Color Schemes
To create your own set of colors, click on the "New" button.  The editor will be activated, and you can set any of the colors for your new scheme.   Enter a unique name for this color scheme.  If a name is the same as one that already exists, it will be modified slightly to make it unique.  After you are satisfied with your colors, click the "Save" button to save them.  If you want to discard your changes, click "Cancel".

Editing Existing Schemes
To edit an existing scheme, select that scheme in the drop-down list and click "Edit"  The editor will be activated, and you can edit the colors the same way you would a new scheme.   Click either "Save" to save your changes, or "Cancel" to discard them.

Editing Colors
To edit a color, click on one of the boxes at the right of the window, corresponding to the item's color you want to define. A list will drop down, and allow you to pick a color.  The boxes will not respond to a  click if you are not in edit mode ( see above ), but will display the color and it's name for reference.

You can choose from three catagories of colors:

Fixed colors
You can select a fixed color.  This color will always be the same, no matter what you select for a Window's color scheme.  They are identified by those choices which are actual colors, such as "Black", "Magenta", or "Red".

System colors
System colors take on dirrerent colors according to the Window's color scheme settings.  They are identified by their function, such as "Window Text", or "Highlighted Background".  The colors in a scheme are designed for compatibility, so it is a good idea to use these with their original use in mind.  "Highlighted" in the list means the same as "Selected" in link700.

Custom colors
The first entry in the list is "Custom".  Click on this to open a color editor window.   The basic window will have several colors to choose from, but you can select any possible color by clicking on "Define Custom Colors >>"

Deleting Colors
You may delete any of your color schemes  ( but not the five mentioned above ) by selecting the color scheme in the drop-down list.  Click on the "Delete" button to delete it.
